Richmond Raceway presents 21st Annual Butterball Memorial Weekend July 18-19

RICHMOND, KY (July 13, 2008)—This Friday and Saturday July 18-19, the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY will present the 21st Annual Paul ‘Butterball’ Wooldridge Memorial Weekend.

Friday’s events kicks off with the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modified Series Presented by Graphic Impressions competing for $1,500 to win, the Super Late Models will run un-sanctioned paying $2,000 to the event winner, the Crate Late Models will race for $500 to the winner, the Sportsman division will compete for $400 to win and the 4-Cylinders will race for $150 to win.

On Saturday, the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Presented by Graphic Impressions Super Late Models will race for $5,000 to the main event winner of the 21st edition of the Paul ‘Butterball’ Wooldridge Memorial. Last year’s winner was Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY. The Crate Late Models will race for $500 to the winner, the Sportsman division will compete for $400 to win and the 4-Cylinders will race for $150 to win.

With Friday and Saturday’s combined Super Late Model purse, a driver who wins both events could walk away with possibly $7,000 and the Modified event winner could walk away with a possible $2,300.

Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN has won the most ‘Butterball’ event wins with eight to his resume coming in ’92, ’94, ’96, ’97, ’99, ’00, ’01, and ’03. Tim Tungate, the 2007 edition winner has also won the event more than once. Tungate’s other ‘Butterball’ event win came during the 2005 season.

The A-Main purse for the Friday July 18 Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modified Series event is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $700, 3rd- $500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200, 11th- $180, 12th- $160, 13th- $150 14th- $140, 15th- $130, 16th through 22nd- $125.

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model A-Main purse for Saturday July 19 is as follows: 1st- $5,000, 2nd- $3,000, 3rd- $2,000, 4th- $1,500, 5th- $1,000, 6th- $800, 7th- $750, 8th- $700, 9th- $650, 10th- $600, 11th- $550, 12th- $500, 13th- $450, 14th- $450, 15th- $425, 16th- $425, 17th- $400, 18th- $400, 19th- $350, 20th- $350; 21st through 24th- $300.

Adult Grandstand Admission for Friday is $15.00 per person and Saturday Adult Grandstand Admission is $20.00 per person. Pit Passes for Friday are $30.00 per person and Saturday’s Pit Passes are $35.00 per person. A Two-Day Pit Pass can be purchased on Friday for only $60.00. On Friday July 18 and Saturday July 19, the Pit Gates open at 3:00 p.m. with Hot Laps slated for 7:00 p.m.

Known as “The Action Track”, Richmond Raceway is a 1/4 mile semi-banked clay oval.
